During my second term at the Glasgow School of Art, my elective was Interactive Audio, which focused on the use of Max 8, a visual programming language software for multimedia applications. The aim of the course was to create a single interactive project of any scope, as long as Max 8 played a role during development. My idea was to try and make randomly generated ambient music for footage of Glasgow.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the course was cut short and resulted in no submission or proper assessment. However, I would still like to continue this idea, as I thought it was pretty unique, and early results were fun to achieve.

Screenshot of the first patch that I made which produced a randomly generated sound. In this patch, 5 oscillating tones of different ranges and frequencies would play repeatedly and update every 5 seconds. Every single time the patch runs, a completely new sound plays. Some of the results were quite pretty!

Below is a 20 second snippet of what sounds may be generated.
